Amazon MGM Studios has released the official trailer for Man on the Run, a new documentary that offers an intimate look into Paul McCartney’s life after The Beatles’ breakup. The film promises a revealing journey through McCartney’s transformation from a global music icon struggling with the band’s end to an artist rediscovering his voice and purpose in a new era of creativity.
Directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville — known for 20 Feet from Stardom and Won’t You Be My Neighbour? — the documentary delves into McCartney’s artistic rebirth. It explores how he and his wife, Linda McCartney, founded Wings, the band that would carry him into the 1970s with a fresh sound and renewed vision.
With unprecedented access to rare archival footage and never-before-seen material, Man on the Run paints a portrait of McCartney at his most vulnerable and inventive. The film captures his journey through grief, fame, and reinvention, revealing how he crafted some of the decade’s most defining songs while navigating the pressures of his own legacy.
Beyond the documentary itself, Man on the Run anchors a major collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios, Universal Music Group, and McCartney. The year-long partnership includes exclusive music releases, special merchandise drops through Amazon Music and McCartney’s Amazon store, and brand-new personal commentary from the artist.
Coinciding with the documentary’s release, McCartney is launching several companion projects. These include his upcoming book Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run (out November 4 on Amazon and Audible), a definitive WINGS collection set for release on streaming and limited-edition vinyl on November 7, and his highly anticipated Got Back North American tour this autumn.
